The ion exchange resin removes residual cations and anions, such as calcium, magnesium, sodium cations, and chloride anions, through exchange reactions with the small number of ions remaining in the water. This further increases the resistivity of the purified water, meeting higher purity requirements.

Finally, ultraviolet sterilizers and ultrafiltration devices are also installed. The ultraviolet sterilizer uses specific wavelengths of ultraviolet light to destroy the DNA structure of microorganisms in the water, effectively killing bacteria, viruses, and other microorganisms, and preventing microbial growth in the purified water system. The ultrafiltration device can retain tiny particles such as residual macromolecular organic matter, colloids, and microorganisms in the water, ensuring that the particulate and microbial indicators of the purified water comply with pharmaceutical standards.
